I cannot help it. I know I should be relishing every last drop of summer… and I am…but only out of guilt. I honestly am just so excited for Fall. The older I get the more this is my favorite season. It is the ushering in of my favorite time of year…the holiday season…also known as the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas rush. It is the most fun and festive time of the year but also takes the most work, so I like to get started early.
I also have to say that I take great comfort in having some company in this early excited anxiety for Fall.
Be Different…Act Normal has been posting some fabulous Fall and Halloween ideas. Go here to check them out!
Unlike past years, I have decided to add Fall gradually to my house so that I don’t get too sick of all the extra decor in my house and spoil the fun.
The first touch of Fall graced our house this morning in the form of this yellow rosette wreath inspired by this wreath I showcased a few months ago from The Pretty Poppy.
This hue of yellow speaks Fall to me and also just a whisper of late summer. Roses often bloom in late summer and into Fall here. I also like that it looks like Fall without being too heavy or too traditional.
I started this wreath with this color of yellow in mind but when I found felt in this color it was not cheap…and I am cheap so it wasn’t jiving for me. Then…I found it in fleece… and I was on my way. I used mostly fleece rosettes with a few felt rosettes here and there to add texture and interest. I also used two different {slightly} colors of yellow fleece.
I found that the fleece really makes a nice full flower and I liked the look of it. I wonder too if it saved me a bit from having to roll as many rosettes. Probably. I added some felt green leaves as an extra touch to give it more depth.

Oh one more thing…man I am chatty tonight.
I had a couple of people ask how I find time to craft. Isn’t that the number one question? The answer is complicated of course. In short…I make time when I have the energy and I just don’t when I don’t. One thing that helps when I do feel motivated is that I do things in pieces. I cut a bunch of things all at once and then just sew in increments. I pick projects like this wreath that I can do during nap/school and finish when I have 10 minutes here and there or later that night.
During this project I discovered that putting everything in an open box made it even easier. I kept all my supplies and scraps inside so I wouldn’t have to clean up each time. When I wasn’t crafting, I just popped the whole box up and out of reach from tiny fingers with ease. Grapevine wreaths also shed a bit so it contained that mess too! The box was a sanity saver.
This picture was taken last night as I finished up the wreath with our point and shoot so please forgive the poor picture quality.
Happy Crafting…and Happy Fall…almost!

So you used the CD size for all of your rosettes? I love the idea and was thinking it might be pretty to totally cover a foam wreath.
