Christmas Pizza

December 13, 2010 · Delia 40 Comments

The thing I love about pizza is that you can make it look however you want!

I normally make pizzas for our Friday family pizza and a movie night. It only took me a couple extra minutes to shape the pizzas like this instead of in a rectangle.

It made me as happy or maybe happier than the kids. 馃檪

We don’t use tomato sauce. We either use ranch dressing or a white sauce.

“White sauce?” you say? It is really simple. Here is a quick how to:

-Make a roux: Add equal parts melted butter and flour {I don’t measure, I just eye ball it so a few TBSP of each should do fine}.
-Cook in small sauce pan over medium heat.
-Whisk together and add about 1 to 1 1/2 c. of whipping cream. Whisk until smooth.
-Add chopped garlic. I like to use the pre-chopped jarred kind, to make it even easier, with some garlic powder – we really like garlic.
-Add a pinch of salt to taste.
-Cook and stir until it thickens. Take off heat and it’s ready.

See? Way easy. Definitely easier than a homemade pizza sauce. It isn’t as healthy but it is dang good.

Christmas, holiday

What a cute idea for festive food! I've been scrolling through some of the posts I've missed lately, and I honestly don't know how you do it all. I'm trying to do a homemade Christmas, and it's taking me forever to get each item finished. I think I'll have to scrap several projects. And yet here you are, whipping out new crafts each day that you came up with yourself, and

        Hi Margenia,

This post is from 11 years ago when I was just learning how to blog. I am sorry to say that this one is not a very good post and there is no video for this specific post. The videos you are seeing are probably made up of content from my other posts to show you what other projects I offer. Ads run before those show up. If it helps, I used the pizza dough recipe from America’s Test Kitchen Family Cookbook. I believe you bake it for 10-15 minutes at 500 degrees F.

    Your pizza looks lovely!

Here's an idea of how to make really quick, simple and delicious tomato sauce: just blend some jarred dried tomatoes in olive oil to a nice tomato purree with as many of the oil as you need to get a nice texture. I use tomatoes which are preserved in olive oil and herbs, therefor I don't even have to season the purree.

    Have a merry christmas

I saw this on Be Different, Act Normal. What a good idea! I never thought of making pizza into shapes, but it's so brilliant! We LOVE homemade pizza and I was thinking about making it anyway this week…we'll definitely try this.

So fun! We're not big fans of "red" sauce here either. I do pesto, a 6 cheese blend, fresh tomato slices, and then whatever meat of veggies. So good!
