Hi Kojo fans! Aren’t Kirstin and Jordan two of the coolest girls in blog land? I’m thrilled to be here.
Today, I’m sharing a project I hope you’ll love that’s as pink as bubblegum.
perfect for warm summer days.
It’s easy to make, easy to wear…
kind of like my Easy Baby Skirts. These are made almost the same way but with a soft elastic waistband and a liner underneath.
Materials:
*This is for a 3-6 mo. size skirt.
18″ of soft 1 1/2 inch elastic...I got mine at a local specialty fabric store that doesn’t yet have an online store but they order their stuff from here wholesale, if you want to know what to look for.
1/4 yard of cotton fabric (I used gingham)
22 inch by 5 inch cotton knit fabric (from a T-shirt or just get 1/4 a yard if buying by the bolt)
Prep all your pieces by cutting your fabric to these specifications.
Ruffle the top and bottom of the skirt with a gathering stitch.
Or liner.
Sew right sides together and turn right side out….
Sew together with a ONE inch seam allowance. Then open it up and sew the seam allowance down on each side.
Pin the other part of the liner to the top of the skirt.
Serge, or sew and then zig-zag around.
Now you’re ready to attach the elastic waistband.
Sew with a modified or regular zig zag stitch all the way around.
Stretch the elastic to match the skirt length as you sew. When you release the elastic it will gather the skirt fabric with it. If you stretch pinned section by pinned section, then your skirt will be evenly gathered.
Then flip right side out. Add a tag if you desire. I use my own homemade mommy tags…see here.
And you have a cute bouncy little bubble skirt.
Slide it on your baby and adore her.
Awwww. 🙂
Love this girl.

Love this skirt! I recently found your blog and am going crazy on your fav tutorials page! I have a question, sorry if it's a silly one. When you say to ruffle the fabric are you doing a gathering stitch all the way around, scrunching fabric by hand, etc? I just don't want to guess and mess up. Thanks!!!
