Yum.
My friend, Connie, who gave me the best bread recipe ever, informed me yesterday that it works great for dinner rolls and even cinnamon rolls. What?! I had to try it.
The result. The best cinnamon buns I have ever made. This dough seems to be so much easier to work than the buttermilk versions. They come out fluffy, soft and just so yummy.
Go here for the easy dough recipe.
After it rises the first time:
-Divide it into two balls.
-Roll out each ball into a rectangle.
-Add your filling {I use brown sugar mixed with some cinnamon and a titch of nutmeg}.
-Roll it up, and then cut it up.
-Rise it like you do the bread.
Oh, and I add a little brown sugar on the top too for good measure.
It should fill up about one x-large cookie sheet and one 9″ round cake pan.
If I had it my way they would all be stuffed and sprinkled with pecans, but my kids wouldn’t be super happy about that, so I sprinkled just a few.
Then I added a powdered sugar/milk glaze. I like them better when they aren’t full of frosting. The glaze adds just the right touch of sweetness.
Just mix 3/4 c. powdered sugar with 1 TBSP. milk and a touch of vanilla.
{I swiped this glaze recipe from the hot cross buns recipe in the Test Kitchen Cookbook.}
And… these aren’t the only buns cooking.
There’s one in here too.
Baby number three got it’s first pictures today and is perfectly healthy. We couldn’t be happier.
We told Reid and Owen this week as well {although I’m sure Owen had to have known something was up before now}. Reid keeps wanting to see my belly and kiss it and talk about it. He got to be there for the first pictures just like Owen was there for his. It’s fun to see Reid slip into the big brother role.
So…This likely explains a lot. {like if you’ve asked me to review a pattern, or guest post, etc. and I’ve said no}
Pretty much the whole month of August was rough, but I’m feeling a lot more myself which is nice. Still…things are going to be moving as slow as I do these days…which can be frustrating if I forget what a blessing it is to be growing a life right now.
The facts so far:
I’m 12 weeks.
Due date: St. Patrick’s Day 2012.
Due date: St. Patrick’s Day 2012.
Yes, I’m already showing enough that people I don’t know well ask me if I’m pregnant.
And we do not mind a bit if it’s a boy or a girl {a question I am getting asked a lot}.
And it dawned on me the other day how much pregnant women are like babies. We cry a lot, sleep a lot, eat a lot, get gassy, pee a lot and spit up quite a lot. Did you ever think about that? Maybe it’s for teaching us empathy and preparing our husbands for what’s to come. 🙂
