With school just around the corner, or maybe it’s already here for you, life is about to get busy. Why not delegate planning dinner to someone else?
Sounded good to me when eMealscontacted me about trying out their meal plans.
EMeals is a great online meal planning service that provides weekly meals using seasonal ingredients and aisle by aisle grocery lists. You simply download your list and recipes each week, print them off, and go shopping! For $5-7 per month, it’s very affordable.
I first tried their clean eating plan, which is a delicious more whole foods approach to cooking. I loved it, it just required more stores to go to, to find what I needed, and that meant more time shopping with my kids. Not fun.
So, I switched to the Walmart plan with some apprehension as to how good the meals would be. I was pleasantly surprised at their quality and very happy with how easy the meals were.
There are always meals that require more time, like the coconut chicken I’m making for this Sunday (yum) but there are also quick weekday meals like this pita chicken pizza:
SO GOOD! This recipe calls for a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken, so there’s no thawing or cooking on the stove. It’s so convenient and fast, which is ideal for the hectic dinner hour that always seems to creep up on me every day.
There are some recipes we’ve liked better than others, but it’s been fun to try recipes I never really would have on my own. The Fish Po-Boys (halibut with a spicy mayonnaise sauce) was super delicious. I’m still craving to make it again!
There are also meal plans for holidays that eMeals throws in for free, along with school lunch menu plans for your kids.
If you don’t like one of the meals, everything is numerically coded on the shopping list so you can see what ingredient is for what meal and make adjustments accordingly.
Each meal makes a lot too! We are a family of five but because of the ages of our kids, we eat like a family of 3 1/2 adults. The four to six people meal plan feeds us plenty of dinner with enough leftovers for lunch (most days) and the plans are always about $75-85 (which I can pare down even more with some creative substituting). 🙂
Are there only two of you? They have meal plans for couples as well. They have meal plans for specific stores, specific diets, gluten free, vegetarian, portion controlled, and everything in between. You can also switch plans if you want to try another kind, which is what I did.
You can check out their blog for even more great recipes, organizing tips and helps for simplifying your days.

I would subscribe to a regular family menu since we don't really have any special diet needs, but that clean eating one sounds good too. This website made me miss living in FL because we don't have Publix where we live now!

I'm going to have a hard time deciding which one I like better — I like clean eating, but I know my family is fearful of anything not involving pizza and cheeseburger and fatty fatty things. Ha! I might go for low carb or low fat to compromise. I definitely like the store specific idea!

If I try e-meals I will try the vegetarian plan. 2 of our 4 are 100% veg. The boys eat mostly veg at home (I don't cook or prepare meat) but eat omni when they are away from home.
