Fort Magic Review and $200 value GIVEAWAY

Today, I’ve got a really cool giveaway that’s sure to rock your kids summer…or any time of year!
It’s… Fort Magic!

Just look at everything that comes in a kit:

When Fort Magic contacted me to see if we would want to review a kit, I jumped at the opportunity. I knew my kids were going to FLIP!

When our kit arrived, I was surprised at how huge and heavy the box was. My kids were giddy with curiosity and couldn’t wait to start.

I scanned their handy QR code on the box to view videos on how to build each fort. Speaking from experience, just make sure your phone has updated plug-ins. 馃檪
While we figured out what we were going to build, who started the sword fighting but Natalie. Ha! 馃檪 Even when she got nicked in the throat, she went right back to instigating the fight. Oh girl.
There was so much to choose from: an airplane, a tee pee, a pirate ship, a submarine, a car! …so much fun.

We decided to make the canoe and then make a random tent fort with the rest of the pieces.

We had to watch Natalie though…she was obsessed with collecting the little red connectors, even if it meant disassembling things. 馃檪 She is keeping me on my toes. That one.
MY THOUGHTS ABOUT FORT MAGIC…
Pros:
– It’s sturdy. Natalie kept trying to climb over and hang on them and they held up without me having to worry.
– The materials are quality and I know they will last.
– So many possibilities. The fact that it is SO huge, means that the fort possibilities are that much grander as well. You can make lots of little forts or one big giant sized fort.
– Ease of assembly. Reid (age 4) needed some help but was capable of doing some of the work independently. Owen (age 8) was right there with my husband and I getting the whole thing put together.
-The fabric clips! These little things were awe.some. Our biggest problem in building homemade forts is that the blankets always, always fall. These clips snap onto the pipes to keep everything in place.
-They encourage fun learning opportunities and exciting, enticing imaginative play.
-The imagination magic instantly happened when the last piped snapped into place. They were fishing from the canoe, scouting out enemy ships, hiding from said enemies in their tent…
To say they were bummed that we had to clean it up for bed was an understatement.
I reminded them that we will be building lots of forts in the future.

And we have! I promised the pirate ship next… (which made me realize we need more old sheets!, or maybe I’ll buy new ones just for this fort)

We set it up and then the kids played for, no joke, HOURS. T.V. or computer time didn’t even cross their minds. We set up the fort right before Natalie had a 2 hour nap. It was bliss for me! 馃槈 The pirate ship is HUGE though and took up our whole living room this time, which probably added to the awesomeness for my kids.

-It appeals to all ages. My husband got into it in the same way he gets into playing Legos with the boys and I had a blast with it too. It’s a toy that brings the whole family together.
-My last pro is that they provide a super sturdy bag to house all the pieces. (Such a mom thing to say huh? :))There are a TON of pieces, so this is a must.
Cons:聽
I don’t have anything really negative to say about Fort Magic, but here are some things to keep in mind:
– The forts are HUGE. You can see how my children fit into the canoe for scale…and this is one of the smaller options!
We have a small place, so we had to move our furniture around to accommodate our fort creations. I think our next order of business will have to be a village of forts all around the house, to build a tall tower, or maybe take it outside to get around the size issue.

-The pipes have to be assembled properly to stay together. Just remember to twist 聽them in and they will stay put better. Adult help is a must for younger kids.

– There are a lot, a lot of little pieces so watch them around very small children.
– It is pricey. But…it’s pricey in the same way that Legos are pricey. You are buying something that will last for generations, that will build their imaginations, and that will provide lasting memories. It’s a great one to get for a holiday or to tell grandma about. 馃槈 wink wink.
