I hope you’re enjoying your Halloween weekend!
I ended up wearing neither costume last night and almost didn’t even go to the carnival. Boo. Something this pregnancy is teaching me is to be super flexible – which I am very bad at. I get sick {whether pregnancy related or not} easy and tired even easier.
I had to get my two hour nap in, but was able to do some fun Halloween things I’ve been planning too. Whoo hoo!
We carved one pumpkin.
We usually carve one for each person in our family…which was just not going to happen this time.
I actually almost even opted for skipping the whole thing this year; but just couldn’t bring myself to let this Halloween go without lighting up a jack-o-lantern. It just doesn’t seem like Halloween without that.
We each picked a face part to design, I did the carving, and then we named him Jack. One pumpkin was so much more fun to carve and we still got to bake some yummy pumpkin seeds.
I wanted to have a fun Halloween dinner but not on Halloween night. It seems that Halloween night is busy enough, so we did it tonight.
…nevermind that the silverware is set wrong. : /
We had bloody bones {ribs}, monster mash {gold yukons and sweet potatoes}, and green goblin stew {creamy pea soup}, with a glass of blood {tomato juice}. I was the only one who drank the blood. I guess it does look gross once you call it that. 🙂
And other fun foods we enjoyed earlier this week/month that I’ve forgotten to share…
This is a cinch to make and SOOOO very good. Recipe found here.
I left out the cilantro because I didn’t have it on hand and it worked out great. I think I might have added a titch more cumin to compensate.
I had to compete with Reid for the last bits. Mmmm. So good.
Oh…and that white dish you see there? The tutorial is found here.
We also had some blood shot egg eyes.
Which are really just beet juice dyed boiled eggs.
Reid and I had these for lunch one day. Reid named him Toast Man. 🙂
Now that name just makes him look cute rather than spooky!
And probably the kid favorite…was this
witches bubbling brew.
I just mixed jello jiggler cubes with pop rocks and 7-UP .
It made so much noise, our little Reid wouldn’t touch his at first. He got over it pretty quick though.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your Halloween!
Sending spooky, good wishes your way!

I agree with Jess! You make being a mom look like so much fun— I can't wait to adopt and do things like this. Holidays are much more fun with children, I think!
