I have a super fun giveaway for you today that is PERFECT for summer.

I’m celebrating BLUE for Color Your Summer and giving away Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop’s Hang Ten Rash Guard pattern聽to THREE winners!

This pattern is a fast sew too, so you could easily whip them up the night before you head out for the pool. Which I happened to do myself. 馃檪

Owen’s rash guard got a little fabric painted shark emblem. I was a little worried it wouldn’t hold up that well, but so far so good.

I kept Natalie’s rash guard really basic. No side stripe or anything. I also opted for long sleeves to give her super fair skin extra protection.

We don’t use it all the time, but it’s nice to throw it on when the sun is super intense.

It took a while for Reid to warm up to his “swim shirt.” I mean “seal skin”… 馃檪 as we decided to call it. Once he did though, he couldn’t help but tell everyone about how cool it is that he has a shirt that he is supposed to wear in the water! Ha. We are obviously late to the rash guard party over here.

As always, Amy’s patterns have great fit, are true to size and are easy to understand. She has pattern making down to a science folks!

You may聽be thinking. Can’t I just go buy a rash guard for about the same price as the pattern? Which is true. But that is just ONE rash guard. I love that I made rash guards for all my kids for less then buying three at the store, and I have a pattern to make more year after year. The size range is up to 12 years!

Her fabric allowances give you a lot of scraps you can use for contrasting sleeves, neckbands and side stripes later. The fabric may seem pricey but once you get a stock of swim fabric on hand, you can come up with all sorts of combos and make that fabric go far.

Another thing I love about this pattern in particular? There is very minimal printing. The way Amy set up the pattern layout makes it so you only need to print a handful of pages for each size. If you are printing out three sizes like me that is a HUGE bonus! Less printing, taping, and cutting makes me super happy. 馃檪

Also…I can’t help but also love this crazy, just got out of the pool, baby swim hair. 馃檪 (tangent…)
