We hope you had a wonderful Halloween!
We had a fun full day yesterday.
We went trick or treating at the grocery store {I am not sure if this is just a Utah thing or not??}
Made pumpkin and ghost shaped pizzas.
Ate our pizza and homemade dry ice root beer over black candle light.
Then we did a short traditional trick-or-treating stint in the rain.
Fun times.
And these were the treats we passed out. Believe it or not my kids picked these out as our treats.
We also made some pumpkin seeds. If you still have some from when you carved pumpkins, here are some good recipes:
These are Maple Spice Pumpkin Seeds from the Bird’s Papaya. They are so so delicious.
And these seeds are a savory recipe that our family loves to make every year. I am sorry I don’t remember the name of the recipe or where I got it. I altered it a lot anyway so let’s call it:
Delia’s Savory Pumpkin Seed Recipe {so original..I know ;)}
2 c. pumpkin seeds
1/4 c. butter melted {just under}
2-3 tsp. Worcestershire sauce {or to your liking}
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt {I put in a little less if I put in a lot of Worcestershire sauce}
1/2 + garlic powder {or to your liking}
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper {or to your liking}
1. Cook the seeds on the stove top in a frying pan with the butter until they are a bit browned. This should take 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally during cooking time. {To be honest…this is a new alteration I made just this year to the recipe and I got the idea from the Bird’s Papaya recipe. In the past I have just added the melted butter in with the other ingredients, but sauteing the seeds in butter first really makes a better roasted pumpkin seed}
2. In a large bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Add the seeds and stir to coat completely.
3. Line a cookie sheet with foil and spray with a quick mist of cooking oil. Spread the seeds evenly in the pan. Bake at 300 degrees for about an hour. Stir every 10-15 minutes. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.
I also just ripped down every Halloween decoration in our house tonight. I don’t know what it was but I was ready to be done with Halloween this year. It is also probably the reason why I didn’t dress up for a fun Halloween party my husband and I went to, hosted by a sweet blogger friend Lorajean. We met through blogging. She and her family are some of the coolest people I have ever met. I was double lame because I got zero pictures! Thanks again though Lorajean for the wonderful hospitality! 🙂
