I haven’t been sewing in a while so I thought I would share this sewn project from a while ago.
When I stumbled upon this free baby shoe pattern from Stardustshoes last year I gave it a shot and loved it. It is simple and even I can do it. I started making a bunch for my then baby…
..and adjusted the size as he grew bigger. I love making them as baby gifts. I paired this one with a matching bow tie.
For Christmas I made slippers for both my boys from this pattern. This is just my oldest boy’s slippers because I couldn’t find my youngest one’s pair (toddler hiding phase). So this baby shoe pattern is a great pattern for slippers as well. Enlarge it to the size you want. I am sure you could just enlarge it on a copy machine but I eyeball it and draw a new pattern. The reason being is that non-baby feet are slimmer so I like to make the sole more narrow and have to adjust the other pieces to fit the new sole.
I leave out the interfacing but I am sure you could keep it if you want it to have more body. Then line it with fluffy fleece or other soft material. I add an extra layer of fleece or batting in between layers for comfort and I add twice as much in the sole.
Just one tip {that isn’t mentioned in the pattern}…
The biggest challenge {at least for me} is catching all the layers when I sew the shoe together. So zig-zag (or serge) all raw seams and pin, pin, pin like crazy. The zig zagged seams make for a cleaner look as well.

i've been wanting to make these forever! What a great gift idea.
And thanks for your fun comments on MADE. I always want to send a quick email response, but your email address isn't linked up to your blogger profile (if it is, then I just hit "reply" in my email :))
Maybe you feel like adding it….. :)?
Hope you're having a good Tuesday!

Hi again,
Wondering about your logo/header. Did you design that yourself? I'm looking for designer input and wondering who people recommend. Thanks! 🙂
