First, many, many thanks for keeping me safe!
Thank you for your sweet comments and words of encouragement during voting during the first weekend of Project Run & Play. I tried to stay away from my computer as much as possible, so I wouldn’t go nuts watching the voting happen, but I got your emails on my phone. Seriously, you all made the whole nerve wracking process so wonderful!
I am under no illusions that I am the most technical sewer in the competition. I am certainly not. Every hour that I spend teaching myself how to do something that I’ve never attempted before, reminds me of that. I don’t regret that extra time though. I am learning so much and pushing myself to try things I’ve only thought “someday” about. It is definitely an uncomfortable process, but also very rewarding, and I hope it will make this blog even better!
I have to give a shout out to Rachel from Nest Full of Eggs, who was let go. I felt the most akin to her design aesthetic and think that she really made a terrific dress. I think this is the part of competition I dislike the most. Someone who did a really great job, is out. I know, first hand how much she probably poured her heart into that dress, so it’s hard to see it happen. I look forward to her designs for the at home competition!
I also want to say congrats to Kimbo from AGAAGG! Her dress (and her model) is adorable! She is so classy and humble. Way to go Kimbo!
And now…I have a few items of business:
1. I got a few questions about Look One:
– I will be doing a tutorial on the cardigan (but not the dress).
– I used my own pattern for the dress…and have improved the neckline. No one mentioned it, but it bugged me to death.
– The mustard linen look fabric I used for the dress is from Joann.
– For the leggings, I just used an existing pair of leggings to make a pattern and then slimmed it ever so slightly, so they wore a bit more like tights. The waist was 18 inches of elastic but after overlapping it and sewing it together, it ended up being more like 14-15 inches – Natalie has a tiny waist.

3. Are you in need of a good site that sells KNIT FABRIC? My new sponsor Hart’s has a HUGE selection…seriously impressive. I am not getting kick backs for saying that. I just know that I’ve struggled to find knits I really like that I didn’t have to cut out of an old T-shirt…and I just had to share the good news.

4. Speaking of hard to find stuff, have you checked out Ribbon Retreat’s hardware blanks section?
I was just perusing on their site and found some key fobs, suspenders clips, tie clips and stuff like that for a really great price (like $1 or so!). I’ve never made a clip on tie, but I hope to give it a go sometime hopefully soon!
If your local craft shops are limited in what they supply, check out Ribbon Retreat. They might just have what you need. Again, I’m only mentioning this because I was so excited myself to find it and thought you might like to know too!

Lastly, some family news.
Reid turned FOUR this last Sunday. I seriously cannot get over how big he’s gotten.
He requested chocolate cake, but since I’m making that for his party next weekend, I made an oversized brownie for him and cute little brownie bites for us.
I topped it all off with some homemade strawberry cream cheese frosting. Thank goodness for birthdays, otherwise I probably wouldn’t make such deliciousness….especially lately! : /
Reid’s having, what else, a LEGO birthday party. I’m mostly using my own printables from Owen’s party from a couple of years ago, but I’ll be doing a few more new printables as well that I’m excited to share with you in the near future. Stay tuned for that.

i loved your outfit for prap! it's so something i would wear (about 1000 times bigger)i had things about my dress that totalllllly bugged me (like the sides not matching up perfect) i think it only bothers the person who made it (or we are the only ones who even notices…cause i didn't know notice anything wrong with collar! i think we are our hardest critiques! great job! and i too hate
